FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (November 10, 2014)
Careforce Health Services was thrilled to win the Canadian Worker Co-operative Federation's Best Practices Award, which was received at the Canadian Worker Co-op Conference held November 6-8 in Greenwich, NS.
The award - which is given annually - goes to a Canadian worker co-operative which has demonstrated best practices in governance and/or operations, including in upholding the values and principles of the co-operative movement within their co-operative, and has shared, or is willing to share their experience and learnings with other worker co-operatives in Canada. The award winner is chosen by the Board of CWCF.
Careforce won the award for its innovative Worker Co-op Orientation program. The orientation is a 12-hour paid training program that is required for all Careforce employees. It is designed to help all Careforce employees understand how worker co-operatives operate and how employees can benefit from becoming a member. The program covers membership benefits and requirements, key policies and by-laws, the co-op principles, and much more.
